I've been obsessed with The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (on Netflix). Watching it has inspired me to start crafting again. In the past, I have made simple art dolls that have limited movement, and their sole purpose is ornamental. This approach benefitted me - helped me achieve high grades. I want to explore while I still have the free time to do so. I have been researching into different approaches to making puppets and animating them. At first, I was considering making a BJD (ball-jointed doll) but quickly changed my mind when I discovered there's a lot more to it than it looks on first glance. Making a marionette requires less materials than making a BJD (no elasticated bands or coil systems), I also think it's slowly going out of style which is sad, because they are incredible and super handy for live action animation.
